Unfortunately, in the wake of Sunday's mass shooting in Orlando, acts of terrorism, both domestic and international are happening all too frequently. </span><br><div><span><br> <img vspace="5" border="0" name="ACCOUNT.IMAGE.1538" hspace="5" width="611" src="http://files.ctctcdn.com/4339298e001/e7752cc7-96b3-4677-978b-d47df8d5a9ee.jpg"> </span></div>Shortly after the Chibok girls were kidnapped, the leadership of Boko Haram announced that the girls would be sold at market, who at that time joined the more than 21,000 individuals who are victims of human trafficking. Negotiations broke down for the return of the girls when the leadership of Boko Haram demanded the return of their imprisoned members in exchange for the girls because Nigeria and its allies refused to negotiate with terrorists. That May, <strong>Goodluck Jonathan</strong>, President of Nigeria, at the time, vowed to bring the girls home. Then, in January of 2015 the U.S. assisted the Nigerian government with sending troops to Chad to search for the girls. Two months later, a new President, <strong>Muhammadu Buhari</strong>, was voted into office, and also vowed to bring the girls home <span>even after admitting that the girls remained lost and that the girls whereabouts were still unknown</span>. There has been a glimmer of hope more recently. In April of this year, a "proof of life" video was shared with the families of the missing girls, and in May one of the girls was reunited with her family. <br><br></div>
<div>Last week, Assemblymember Bichotte stood with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority joined by Members of the New York State Assembly to observe a moment of silence and stand in solidarity with the parents and families, the numerous people around the world, the <strong>Honorable Frederica Wilson</strong>, and her colleagues in the United Sates Congress who have gathered every Wednesday wearing red to remind the world that the majority of the Chibok school girls are still missing, and must be brought back home.</div>
